This session will explain the many roles now played by expert witnesses in litigation. Those roles include not only preparing expert reports and testifying at trials, but also advising the trial attorney about trial preparation and participating in alternative dispute resolution meetings, such as facilitative mediation.
How You Will Benefit
After completing this course, attendees will be able to:
- Identify how to work with retaining counsel
- Demonstrate how best to write expert reports
- Recognize the nature and logistics of facilitative mediation
- Prepare for cross-examination
- Analyze and develop skills for direct examination
- Describe the discovery process in civil litigation
Attendees will learn about the entire range of activities that should be assigned to an expert witness. That knowledge will equip attendees with the tools they need to work effectively with retaining counsel, participate in discovery and mediation processes, and testify effectively at trial. Attendees will also better understand their expanding role in civil litigation.
