This presentation will focus on the standards for qualifying expert witnesses under Federal Rule of Evidence 702 and challenges to expert witnesses under the Daubert decision from the United States Supreme Court. In light of the recently promulgated version of Rule 702, expert witnesses must be prepared to face challenges to their credentials, their methodologies, and their opinions. This presentation will enable expert witness to anticipate and address challenges designed to prevent them from testifying at trial.

- Identify the importance of Daubert challenges
- Prepare to testify at Daubert hearings before trial judges
- Construct expert opinions that are properly based on sound methods

- Identify and anticipate cross-examination questions and inquiries from judges
Attendees will learn about Daubert challenges aimed at disqualifying expert witnesses under the standards prescribed by Federal Rule of Evidence 702. That knowledge will equip expert witnesses with the skills they need to survive pretrial challenges to their qualifications, their methodologies, and their expert opinions.
